Physical Education Intent

At Hillary Primary School, our intent is to deliver a high quality curriculum that is engaging and inspires all children to thrive and flourish in a variety of different sporting disciplines.

We want children to be aspirational, succeed and excel in competitive sport and physical activities. We provide all children, from EYFS to UKS2, chances to compete in sport and other activities, allowing them to develop their health, fitness and well-being. This encourages our children to be articulate and build upon their prior skills to meet the end of Key Stage objectives set out in the National Curriculum.

At Hillary, we intend to build a curriculum that will give our children the opportunity to be knowledgeable and helps them embed transferrable life skills such as tolerance, fairness, respect and reciprocity.

We aim to offer our children opportunities through extra-curricular activities and intra-school competitions while helping to raise the profile of PE. In doing this, it will encourage our children to be inquisitive and unique, as we will expose them to a broader range of sports that they may never have had the opportunity to engage with previously.
