Geography
Geography Intent
At Hillary, our geography lessons build on skills to enable the pupils to become geographers and allows the opportunity for them to experience the world at their fingertips therefore creating global citizens and broadening their horizons. We believe that through the exposure to a range of diverse environments and issues, our children will become knowledgable and aspirational, competent geographers.
By building on the pupils’ knowledge of diverse places, people, resources, we reveal the interrelationship between natural and human features across the world.
We inspire the children through quality first teaching and teach them to think like geographers. We model and encourage them to ask questions and seek answers. We promote that it is great to be inquisitive. Our pupils will be taught and be exposed to a range of technical vocabulary allowing them to articulate their ideas clearly.
At Hillary, we teach a range of engaging topics in which children will investigate scientific phenomena in the real world: the children will be exposed to looking at scientists who have impacted the world and what makes them unique.
The inspiring Geography curriculum will allow the children to thrive and experience things first hand and develop their love of Geography, creating well-versed citizens who have love and respect for the world around them.
