We would like to wish a wonderful welcome to all the children joining us in Reception this year.
This term, the topic is New Beginnings. The children will learn about their new class, their new friends, their new grown-ups and what makes them special. The children will draw; paint; build; write; count; dance; laugh and learn. We can’t wait to get to know you all and spend time making memories.
If you have any questions, worries or issues, please do contact your class teacher. We want your child to be happy at Hillary Primary and we are here to help.

Our topic this term is Being Me in my World. Please keep checking our page for updates on our learning.
Homework will be sent via Class Charts every Friday by the Reception team. We would like this to be completed by the Wednesday of the following week – please upload your child’s homework on Class Charts so that we can share your child’s home learning.
Your child will also receive a login to allow them to access electronic books, these will be linked to our RWI programme in school and will allow you to read with your child at home.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school daily. We ask you to send fresh water in their bottles daily and this can then be topped up during the day at school. Please ensure your child’s bottle has their name written on it clearly so it can be easily identified by your child.
We kindly ask you to label all of the children’s clothes with their names. This avoids items getting mixed up in the classroom and helps us to locate missing clothes easily.
As we approach the Autumn and the weather starts to change, we ask that your child comes to school appropriately dressed for the weather. Please ensure they have coats with them at school (clearly labelled please) and as is starts to get colder please send them with gloves and hats when needed.
We ask that the children come to school dressed in their PE kits on their allocated day. Please send your child in appropriate clothing for physical activity: plain dark shorts or joggers, a t-shirt or hoody and appropriate sports footwear (trainers).
