Child protection and safeguarding policy

Our vision is to create a respectful, happy, safe and stimulating learning environment where children are nurtured to thrive intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually.

Key Values

As a school, we have introduced 5 key values, that aim to promote and prepare pupils for life in school and in a British Society.

The 5 values are to be upheld by all children and adults in school and will help us to work as a team to ensure we all reach our full potential.

The 5 values are:

1 Respect

2 Reflection

3 Reciprocity

As a Thrive approach school, we use techniques in large groups, small groups and on a one to one basis, both inside and outside the classroom so that all children are able to choose to follow and uphold these values.

Our school follows the child protection procedures as defined by Walsall Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB and multi agency threshold guidance. We work with partners to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers and visitors to our school as safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Our belief is that “it could happen here” and “we have the interest of the children” as our priority.

This policy is shared with parents via parents briefing sessions and is available on our school website

Our children and young people understand our responsibility to keep them safe. We share a child/young person version of our Child Protection and Safeguarding policy.

All staff (this includes volunteers) are aware of the safeguarding procedures in our school and these are explained to as part of staff induction.

This includes:

• the child protection policy

• the Thrive/behaviour policy for pupils/students

• the staff behaviour policy (sometimes called a code of conduct);

• the safeguarding response to children who go missing from education

• the role of the designated safeguarding lead (including the identity of the designated  safeguarding lead and any deputies).

• part one and Annex A- Keeping Children Safe in Education
